Case Study – Databasing for Instrumentation System

Situation

A client needed to add a logging and databasing facility to a piece of existing instrument control software.

Action

After analysis Cametrics proposed and developed a series of plug in components to take data from the existing software and to export it to a Microsoft Access database. This was structured to allow the database and the control software to reside on different machines. To ensure ease of setup automated tools were developed to translate machine configuration into relevant table structures in the database.

Benefits

Graphic display of data was made available for the operator and this facilitated the following:

Process control - the client was able to recall specific data from all previous runs and make statistical analyses
The client was able to make comparisons of data and use a query function to access data from all log files.
